Louise Bergiel (born as Kitz, formerly Komblevicz), age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 6, 2026, with her loving sons Gary and Craig close by.

Born on April 8, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, Louise was the daughter of the late John Kitz and Pearl Rakoczy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin Bergiel; her brother Joe Kitz and his first wife, Marie; and her brother John (the late Beverly) Kitz.

Louise was a devoted mother to Cheryl (Frank) Cozzola, Joe Komblevicz, Craig Komblevicz, Gary Komblevicz and John (Lisa) Komblevicz. Through her marriage to Martin in 1988, she lovingly welcomed Martin's five children into her life: Debra (the late Carl) Moilanen, Diane (Robert) Ray, Martin (Margaret) Bergiel, Dawn (Richard) Szczesny and Michael Bergiel. Together, they formed a large blended family that brought her tremendous pride and joy. She was a cherished grandmother to Stanley Komblevicz, Garet Komblevicz, Chelsea (Justin) Fritz, Jeshua Komblevicz, Lauren Komblevicz, Adam Komblevicz, Seth Moilanen, Erin (William) Martell, Richard (Nasima) Szczesny, Shane (Samantha) Bergiel, Jessica (Andrew) Graves, Taylor Bergiel, David (Madeline) Szczesny, Jacob Bergiel and Kathleen Szczesny. Louise was also the beloved great-grandmother of Easton, Landen, Lincoln, Isabelle, Baron, Beau and Benton, Maya and Eleanor. She is survived by her siblings Mary Kitz, Catherine (the late Paul) Sugars, Charles (the late Betty) Kitz, and Joan Schneider; her sister-in-law, Gladys Kitz; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Louise will be remembered for her generous heart and the countless ways she showed others she cared. She never forgot to send a birthday card, devoted time to charitable work into her 80’s and continued hosting holidays and family gatherings well into her 90’s. Her strength, energy, positive attitude and devotion to Christ inspired everyone who knew her. She lived through World War II and overcame breast cancer, broken heart syndrome following the death of her husband, and even COVID-19 at age 90, but ultimately passed the very way she always wanted—peacefully in her sleep. Louise loved golfing and sewing and was known as the quiet sister—although those who knew her back in the day could tell you she had a rowdy side, too. Her generosity, resilience and love for her family will never be forgotten.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday at 1:00pm with a 12:00pm in state at Our Lady of Angels, 6442 Pelham Road, Taylor (just south of I-94 on the west side of the road), followed by a Luncheon, time and location to be determined.

A private cemetery service for the immediate family will take place the following day.
