IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie A.
Mckeough
December 6, 1932 – September 22, 2023
Age 90.
Former wife of the late John. Loving sister of Dee Phillips and the late Frances Wiggins. Dear aunt of Bradley (Teresa), Tyler Wiggins, and Kendal (Allen) Mazurek. Great aunt to Jennifer, Evan, and Audrey.
Marie Antoinette was born in Dearborn on December 6, 1932, the middle daughter of Frank and Frances Cesario. She joined her beloved older sister, Frannie, and later, her baby sister Dee completed the family.
She attended Dearborn schools, and graduated in 1951 from Fordson High School. Marie went on to work at Castle Steel, where she worked for many years as a key punch operator. She loved working there, and made many lifelong friends.
Marie married John McKeough and they settled into their lovely house on Rosemary in Dearborn Heights. She doted on her nephews, Brad and Tyler, and her niece, Kendal. Marie was always the "fun" aunt! She loved to bake, play cards, crochet and sew. She always had Life Savers in her pocket, and special gifts (some may say over-the-top!) at birthdays and Christmas!
Her other great love was her dogs. She adored her schnauzers, and animals in general. Marie was a great supporter of the Michigan Humane Society or any animal in need. Her love and compassion for animals was contagious!
Marie took a big leap and changed careers later in life. She trained to be an ophthalmologist assistant and worked many years at the Eye Surgery Institute in Dearborn. This really was her true calling. She loved the work and the patients adored her, and she them. She made so many friends and was a real social butterfly! Marie worked into her 80's, and only stopped due to declining health.
Marie loved to travel, and went to Europe with her husband in the 1960's. After that trip, she was hooked! She traveled all around the United States (Marie and John even had a condo in Florida), Ireland, England, even Russia. She considered herself very lucky to have had the chance to travel, and spoke of her experiences all the time.
Even in her declining health, Marie made many friends at Belle Fountain Nursing Home. She faced death with dignity and constantly told us how grateful and blessed she was. Marie lived her life on her own terms. She was loved by many, and will be missed by all.
