IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael 'Mikey'
Bruton
March 22, 1959 – June 13, 2024
Michael "Mikey" Bruton was born on March 22, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away at age 65 peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, June 13th, 2024. Born to Kay Bruton, Mike was a beloved husband to Ruth and a devoted "bonus dad" to Diana (John), Kelly (Matt), Edward (Laura), Neal (Sophie), Gwendolyn (Kennedy), Stephen (Kimi), and Martin (Kelsey). The term stepdad doesn't do it justice. He was the cherished Papa to Freya, Archer, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Gwendolyn, Grace, Hudson, Hayes, Jack, Aubrey, Emma, Luke, and Olivia. He was also a dear uncle to Katlyn (Kurt).
Mikey retired at age 50 from Ford Motor Company as a metal model maker, where he worked for over 30 years. His work ethic and quick wit left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends. In retirement, Mikey and Ruth traveled across the country, visiting many friends and family along the way. Mikey had many hobbies, which included golfing, snowmobiling, watching the Detroit Lions, antiquing, and collecting pre-prohibition Budweiser memorabilia. Known as a jack of all trades, Mikey was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Mikey was preceded in death by his sister Kathy, late wife Karen, mother Kay, brother-in-law Dean, and sister-in-law Brenda. He is survived by a large, loving family, including dozens of bonus nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sister-in-laws, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16th, from 2-8 pm at John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd, Garden City, Michigan. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, June 17th, at 11 am at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a faithful member, 32430 Ann Arbor Trail, Westland, Michigan.
Mikey's legacy of love, generosity, and passion for life will continue to inspire all who knew him. True to the generous life he led, Mike has donated his eyes to give sight to the living. His sense of humor and loving heart will always be remembered and cherished.
