Michael Walter Zajac. Age 79. Michael passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Beloved husband of Cheryl for 53 years. Loving father of Kevin and Lisa.Dear brother of Delphine (Raymond) Sullivan and Donald Zajac; brother-in law of Lester Strzyzewski. Cherished uncle and great-uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his parents Michael and Jennie Zajac, and sisters Lillian Strzyzewski and Karen Gadzinski.

Michael was born to Michael and Jennie Zajac on July 20, 1944 in Hamtramck, Michigan. He attended Queen of Apostles Catholic School and graduated from Hamtramck High School.He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Detroit and made a living as a banker and a salesman through the years.

Michael married Cheryl on June 6, 1970, and raised their children in Dearborn, Michigan. He spent many evenings spending quality time with his children throughout their childhood, and always found ways to entertain the family on yearly vacations up north and throughout the Midwest and Canada. Through the years, Michael was very active in St. Sebastian Catholic Church serving as the coordinator of the T-Ball program and being a member of the Dad's Club and the Usher's Club.He also worked in various roles at the church's annual festival, sang in the choir, and tutored students at St. Sebastian elementary school.

Michael's favorite hobbies were singing karaoke and going to the casino. After retirement, you could always find "Mike Z" singing karaoke Friday and Saturday evenings, and he and Cheryl enjoyed monthly casino trips throughout the state of Michigan; they also were on a bowling league and attended monthly luncheons with two different church groups. In his spare time, Michael also enjoyed watching Elvis movies, westerns, and wresting program, as well as completing crossword and word search puzzles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Hackett-Metcalf Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be a Rosary on Friday at 5:00 p.m. Instate 9:30 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights, Michigan on Saturday, October 21, 2023, until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m.
