Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Obidzinski  gained her heavenly  reward  on November 8,2025.

Born Mildred Lucille Taylor on April 15,1933 on a rural farm in Southern Indiana, she was the apple of her much older siblings and her Dad's eyes from the time she entered this world.

She met the love her life while in high school and married Thurman E Peden the day after her high school graduation. Theirs was a love affair to be envious of. The only real argument any of their children ever witnessed was about over- fertilizing her prized roses. Together they had three children all born in Indiana and the family moved to the Detroit Michigan area in 1966 for a better life of opportunities.

A homemaker and woman of Faith, Mildred kept an immaculate home throughout her life.  In her later years she became an avid collector of dolls and teapots for which she was well known. She never left her bedroom for the day without the bed being made and she balanced her checkbook each month to the penny without the use of a calculator.

Mildred cared for Thurman after his cancer diagnosis and until his death in 1982.  In 1985 she married her second husband, Henry "Hank" Obidzinski.  Together they traveled the world for 10 years until Hank became ill and she cared for him until his death in 2000.

Mildred was an active member of the Berwyn Senior Club, Bowling League and played monthly pinochle with the same group of ladies for 45 years.  She continued to travel with her senior group to casinos until 2015.  She loved those penny slot machines!

In 2017 Millie agreed to move to North Carolina to be closer to family.  She resided at Countryside Village and Manor and made many friends.  She continued to play BINGO and remained busy with activities throughout the facility. Everyone there knew Millie. Despite her advancing dementia over the past many years, she continued to walk and then roll throughout the facility and speak to all she encountered.

Millie leaves behind her youngest daughter, Candy (Jerry) Wright, daughter-in-law Lynn Peden , her grandchildren and her youngest blessing, great granddaughter Lucille Carroll. Numerous nieces and nephews who always called her "Aunt Icky" are also left to cherish memories. Pre-deceasing her in death was her only son, Terry E Peden.

The family is eternally grateful to the phenomenal staff at Countryside Village and Manor and for their amazing hearts for our Millie.

She leaves a legacy of strength, faith, laughter and love and will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will take place at John N. Santeiu and Son Funeral Home in Garden City, Michigan on Wednesday, December 3 with family visitation beginning at 10am followed by visitation 11-1pm; funeral service at 1pm and procession to Cadillac Memorial Gardens West for final interment.
