Obituary

Mitzie Sparks, born on June 17th in Detroit, Michigan, passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 16 at the age of 85.

Mitzie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her close-knit family. She cherished living close to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and nothing meant more to her than having everyone together under one roof.

She loved the simple and beautiful things in life. Lilacs were her favorite flower, and their sweet fragrance will always remind us of her. She enjoyed watching for cardinals, morning visits over coffee, Tuesday movie outings with her daughter and friends, shopping trips to Hobby Lobby, and sharing steak dinners at Texas Roadhouse.

Mitzie was also active in her community and loved organizing monthly luncheons with the Canton Newcomers group, bringing friends together just as she did with her family.

Some of her happiest memories were the summers spent Up North surrounded by family—swimming, playing cards, sharing meals, and enjoying long conversations together. Early mornings were especially special to her, sitting on the deck with freshly brewed coffee, watching the water and the birds, and sharing quiet moments with the people she loved most.

Mitzie will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved. Her family was her whole world, and her love will continue to live on in all of us.

Mitzie was the daughter of the late Idella Mayer and cherished wife of the late Edgel Sparks. She is survived by her loving children, Kline (Flora) Sparks and Dawn (Joe) Pulis; her cherished grandchildren, Colleen, Logan, Kelsey, Josie, and Luke; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Cameron, Charlie Marie, Elliana, and Everly, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at John N. Santeiu & Son, Inc, 1139 N. Inkster Road, Garden City (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill).

A luncheon will follow to celebrate her life. The family asks that those who attend remember Mitzie by sharing stories, laughter, and the love she always brought into every room.
