Obituary

Nancy Ann Christeloveon, age 87 , of Westland, Michigan passed away on her birthday, October 31. She was born in 1939 in New Haven, Michigan to Fred and Anna Laich. Nancy will be remembered for her kindness, humility, and selfless service to others, particularly the disenfranchised. She was predeceased by her husband Nick and son Scott. She is survived by her son Brad and numerous nephews, nieces and friends, all of whom loved her very much.

Nancy loved the outdoors and the physical activities outdoors brought. In her younger years she was an avid skier and loved playing softball with her nieces and nephews. As she grew older her love of being physically active never ceased but shifted. At her hunting camp near Alpena, Michigan she could be found on a tractor preparing fields to be seeded to feed the deer, picking asparagus from her garden, clearing walking trails, or just strolling through the woods looking for morrell mushrooms and watching the beautiful birds she attracted by feeding them. She often would feed beautiful hummingbirds out of her hands.

Nancy was dedicated to being part of the alcoholic anonymous community and, in particular, helping people rid themselves of alcohol dependency. She rallied to struggling prisoners whom she sent letters and delivered literature. She was known as a “healer” through her acts of kindness and words of encouragement, love and prayer. It is believed that Nancy positively impacted thousands of lives during her 30 years of AA involvement.

Her love of people extended to her passion to play the card game Euchre. She could be found most any week organizing a euchre game or participating in euchre tournaments throughout the state of Michigan. She loved the competition the card game brought but she loved the people she was playing with more.

She is already dearly missed and though she is no longer physically with us her legacy of kindness and love forever will live on. Because of you, Nancy, this world is a better place.

A memorial celebration will take place on Friday, November 13th starting at 11:30 a.m. at Soho Banquet and Event Center, 4615 Warren Road, Westland, MI 48185
