Obituary

Noreene (Kowalsky) Klann, age 94, went to meet her Savior and reunite with her beloved husband, Robert, on January 20, 2024.  Noreene and Robert were married in Detroit in 1948, and fully enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2011.

She was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dearborn, Michigan for over 65 years.  She never missed Sunday worship.  She moved to Traverse City in 2015, and thereafter, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  At the time of her death, Noreene was living near her daughter in Traverse City.

At Our Redeemer, Noreene was a member of the Ladies Aid for about 20 years, and later volunteered for that group, as needed.  She enjoyed her neighborhood pinochle card club for many years.  Noreene was a voracious reader of fiction, particularly paperback mysteries.  In later years, she loved to watch endless hours of TV police and medical drama reruns.

Her legacy is the example of her deep, but not demonstrative, faith in her Savior and her total devotion to her husband and children.

She was the loving mother of Daniel (Elizabeth) of Waterloo, Iowa and Debrah of Traverse City, Michigan.  Also surviving are grandchildren Sarah Langner, Carrie Helle, and Kristopher Klann, 10 great grandchildren, and sisters Jacqueline Klann and Joann Fransik.

Noreene was preceded in death by her parents George and Leona (Behling) Kowalsky, brothers Leonard Kowalsky and Jerome Kowalsky, and her husband Robert.

Due to health-related travel limitations currently experienced by her children, there will not be a funeral, and Noreene will be laid to rest beside her husband at Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia, in the Garden of Prayer.
