Norma Mueller's Obituary

Norma D. Mueller (nee Konow) was born to Otto and Lydia Konow on March 19, 1929 in Calumet City, Illinois. She married Arthur Eggebrecht at Ascension Lutheran Church in Landover, MD in 1949.

A keen typist and stenographer, Norma took a secretarial course in high school, graduated with honors, and had a record-breaking shorthand of 160 wpm. She attended the Stenotype Institute of Washington, DC and worked for the Veteran's Affairs Administration in DC and also the David Taylor Model Basin-Department of the Navy in Carderock, Maryland. She went on to teach stenography at the Indiana College of Commerce and taught many students over the years. After her first husband's passing, Norma moved west to Apache Junction, AZ for health reasons. She greatly enjoyed her community of friends at Mountain View Lutheran Church. It was there she met her second husband, Richard Mueller, while playing cards at the church. They married in 2006 at the ages of 72 and 80 and celebrated with many friends and family in attendance. Aside from raising her family and working, she loved sewing, travelling to visit her friends and family, water aerobics, her cats (Mr. Meow, Blackie, Geronimo, Little Girl), reading, playing cards, and a good cup of tea.

A faithful servant to the end, Norma loved the Lord and enjoyed serving her community. Her volunteer spirit, love of family, and her cheerful personality endeared her to those in her company. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother and will be missed dearly. She is survived by daughter Deborah Kimmel and son-in-law Thomas Kimmel; son Paul Eggebrecht and daughter-in-law Stephanie Eggebrecht; grandchildren Philip, Ellen, Allison, Jessica and husband Adam, and Kimberly; brother Emmet Konow and sister-in-law Jan; her cousins Ruth Knippelberg, Mary Davis, and David Krahenbil of British Columbia, Canada. She was preceded in death by husbands Arthur Eggebrecht, Richard Mueller, and her loving son Thomas Eggebrecht.
