Dear father of Michèle (Matthew) Weibel, Kelly Jo Melzer, Michael (Annie) Mitchell, Bruce (Zarin) Mitchell, Martin (Lisa) Mitchell, and Cameron Mitchell. Loving grandfather of Douglas Mitchell, Karlie Mitchell, Madison Melzer, M. Gavin Mitchell, Alec Mitchell, Jenny Mitchell, and Jill Mitchell. Predeceased by his parents Alfred James and Annie (Wood) Mitchell, and siblings Freda Mitchell, Alfred Mitchell, James Mitchell, Annie (Nancy) Wheeldon, and Alice (Duncan).
