IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ruth
Muncey
July 17, 1929 – November 28, 2017
Patricia Ruth Muncey passed away peacefully on the morning of November 28, 2017. At the golden age of 88, Pat celebrated life surrounded by her five children, Cynthia Ann Wade, (Thomas), Michael Robert Muncey, (Kathi), Diane Lynn Thomas, Mary Beth Bruce and Mark Muncey, five beloved grandchildren, Shannon, Max (Lindsay), Daniel, Gunnar and Marinna and her only great-grandchild Molly. She is also survived by her sister Joanne Higgins, and one very affectionate pet dog, named Luna. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Tanner and Ruth Armstrong, her husband Robert Muncey and brother Thomas Tanner.
Pat together with "Bob" her husband of 41 years worked and sacrificed to raise a large Catholic family, providing private school education for all five children. They were active members of the Knights of Columbus Father Patrick O'Kelly Council in Dearborn, where they loved to spend time entertaining with friends; it was like a second family there. They were exceptional dance partners and loved doing the jitterbug as was the style back in their day. After Bob passed away in 1992, Pat continued on the council as a Lady of the Auxiliary and became known affectionately as the "Sunshine Lady". A role she came to naturally as her smile and spunky personality was infectious to everyone she met.
She lived a simple life remaining in the first home she and Bob built, she worshiped the sunshine, adored a beach and vacationed in Florida where her parents resided nearly every summer that she was able. She was a huge Detroit sports fan. Many a summer you could find her enjoying a cold beer, sitting in the hot sun, listening to a Tiger baseball game. She was equally fond of the Red Wings and always had football on the television every Sunday. Pat was funny. She could tell a good joke and when she laughed, the room lit up. She had the good fortune to be surrounded by many many friends. Late in life Pat was blessed to find a loving companion, Ted Wasilewski. Ted and Pat had a very fun-loving relationship, they traveled together and for 10 years, she was lucky in love again. Ted passed and Pat was alone but at peace.
Quick to speak her mind and honest sometimes to her fault, Pat could make you laugh and she could make you cry. Tough as nails and sweet as sugar. She loved playing cards and especially enjoyed the tile game Rummicube which became a tradition with family members especially on holidays. Her greatest joy was seeing her family altogether. Laughing, arguing, teasing, misbehaving...it didn't matter, she loved to see all her children together. Upon receiving the news of her illness, she became determined to have the most fun possible and went to see Neil Diamond, one of her favorite performers in concert this summer. She also was graciously overwhelmed and surprised when her family threw her a surprise Margarita birthday celebration on her 88th birthday, she had a wonderful day. Pat had time to prepare for her leave of this earth. She made it her wish to be laid to rest after cremation next to her late husband, at Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights. It was her desire that after she was gone that only her children would gather to memorialize her life. The family requests that any donations in her name be made to Angela Hospice, 4100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, Michigan48154 866-464-7810

Native American Prayer:
I give you this one thought to keep, I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift,
uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone - I am with you still - in each new dawn.
