IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Richard
Ramsey
July 4, 1931 – December 9, 2023
Paul Richard (Dick) Ramsey, 92, of Southgate, passed away peacefully on Dec. 9, 2023 with his wife by his side.
He was born July 4, 1931, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late L. Dow and Ruth (Arthur) Ramsey.
Paul was a 1949 Clay High School graduate, and played minor league baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1949-1951. In 1951, joined the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. After his discharge, he became a journeyman meat cutter and retired as a Meat Department Supervisor at Farmer Jack. Paul believed in working hard and as often as you can while you're able. Given this philosophy, after retirement he held many part time jobs including janitorial services, pharmacy courier, and hearse driver, until he was 83 years old. After full retirement, he enjoyed sitting in the sun in his back yard, with his grandchildren and dogs playing around him.
Paul most enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He was a lover of animals, old westerns, baseball, and football. He was an avid golfer who continued to play every Monday and Tuesday through June of this year. He hit his first hole in one at 89 years old on October 12, 2020! He also received gold and silver medals playing golf in the Southgate Senior Olympics. Paul loved going to his high school reunions every year, to his brother Joe's home to make apple butter every October, vacationing in Las Vegas and Canadian Lakes, as well as letting off steam at the casino or playing cards with his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cynthia Kay (Peer). His children Rochelle Renee (Mark) Schaffrath, Dawn (Ray) Locke, Nathan Theile, and Paula (Harold) Buchanan. His grandchildren Samantha, Nina, Nicholas (Shannon), Eric, Noah, Hannah, Jessica (Tim), Shawn. Noel, Aaliyah, Joscelyn, Dominick, Harold, Faith, Hope, Charity, and Bowdee. His great grandchild Jimmy. As well as numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Paul was proceeded in death by his brothers, Joseph (Rose Ann) and Ralph Ramsey and his children, Jennifer Marsh and Chad Theile.
