Paul Ehler Winslow, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. Paul grew up in Temperance, Michigan. The son of Marie Winslow, a schoolteacher, and J.B. Winslow, a professor, Paul's childhood was filled with a profound love of learning, which greatly influenced his life.

A lifelong educator, Paul served as a Professor of Sociology, and the Director of the Honors Program, at Henry Ford College. Paul also held the position of Vice President of the American Federation of Teachers Local 1650.

Paul's passion for life extended far beyond the classroom. Paul was a world traveler, a master bread baker, a lover of the arts, an avid sports fan (we so wanted him to see his beloved Lions win a Super Bowl!), and an outdoor adventurer. Paul was deeply involved with Fort Street Presbyterian Church. He was active in the Fort Street Open Door program, lovingly earning the title of "the salad guy." Paul also served as Moderator of the Detroit Presbytery.

Paul met the love of his life, Marilyn, when he was a hospital patient, and she was his nurse. Paul asked for her phone number. Paul claimed that he called Marilyn right away and asked for a date. Marilyn claims Paul waited weeks to call. No matter, their love remained strong and steadfast for 70 years (68 years in marriage). They were each other's rock.

Paul was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Dr. William Winslow. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Winslow; his devoted children, Wendy Winslow-Nason (Doug), Lori Winslow Gordon, and Tracy Winslow; his cherished grandchildren, Brendan Winslow-Nason (Annie), Blair Winslow-Nason, Xavier Ceja-Winslow (Alexandra), Lilly Gordon, and Oscar Gordon; his treasured great-grandchildren, Beckim, Egan and Lochlan Nason, and Xiomara Ceja-Winslow; his dear sisters-in-laws, Beverlee Winslow and Marsha Rosenthal; and loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2024,11:00am, at Fort Street Presbyterian Church. A luncheon will follow. The church address is 631 West Fort Street, Detroit, MI 48226. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fort Street Presbyterian Church, or a charity close to your heart.
