Obituary

Ramon Louis Coutinho, age 80, of Allen Park, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on October 11, 1944, in West Virginia, he lived the greater part of his young life in Delray, Detroit with his late mother Stella and his large family. Ramon lived a life dedicated to service, family, and lifelong learning. He was a proud veteran who served in the Vietnam War, where he served in the Army with distinction. He was a wounded veteran who received a Purple Heart for his service. His commitment to his fellow veterans continued long after his military service, as he dedicated his career to serving as a veteran's outreach worker for the State of Michigan. He found immense fulfillment in helping others navigate the system and access the resources they deserved.

Ramon was a professional man but had a late start in his life after his young military service. He was a strong advocate for education and took great pride in his own accomplishments.

He was a devoted widower to his beloved wife, Theresa, who preceded him in death on December 4, 2021. He was a loving father to Michelle (Paul), Kelly, and the late Joseph. Also survived by Carlos (Roberta), John (Debbie), Mark (Stephanie), and the late Anthony. He was a cherished grandfather to Christine (Mike), Michelle (Nico), Diane, Anthony (Alyssa), Carlos, Chelsea (Justin), Amanda, Erica (David), Kayla (Kurt), Mark (Madison), Emmanuel, Gabriel, and the late Antonio. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Matthew, Celine, Isaac, Elise, Elijah, Emma, Avery, Isaac, Liam, Luke, and Cade. He also leaves behind his beloved Puppy Missy.

Ramon has a vast and diverse collection of life-long friends, family, and relationships. Everyone who knew him had a personal nickname. He was not a shy man and could strike a conversation with anyone in any setting. His witty one-liners were one-of-a-kind and he had a no-nonsense street wisdom that could easily be applied in all real-life situations. He was not easily provoked but could stand his ground for himself and others. Ramon would be the man you would want on your side. His loyalty to his friends and family was unmatched.

He will be deeply missed by, and irreplaceable to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
