Age 92
Beloved husband of the late Marguerite J. Dear father of Richard Jr. (Cheryl), Debbie, Peggy (Ellie), Brenda Helle, Darlene (Jim)Sterling, Bernadine, Randy, Patty (Bob) Ciarelli, Ron, Diane Boyce Melvin, and the late baby daughter Mary. Loving grandfather of 25 and great grandfather of 32 and a late granddaughter, Theresa. Son of the late Harry and Margaret Boyce. Brother of the late Buddy, Donald, Lillian Armstrong, and Claudia Martin. Brother-in-law of Connie Coon, and Janet Boyce. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dick was a loving husband to Marguerite. They often reminisced about their long life together. They enjoyed attending activities in which their kids and grandkids participated. They loved Christmas and were well known for their displays. Dick handmade all of the decorations. They became lovingly known by friends and neighbors alike as the Founders of the "Christmas House"! He made many sacrifices for the family. He would always budget for an annual family vacation. Dick was always concerned with the wellbeing of his children. He was generous with his time and attention to his children and grandchildren. He was a great father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all.
Visitation Wednesday 2 pm – 7 pm with a 6:30 pm Rosary at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 N. Inkster Rd., Garden City. In state Thursday 9:30 am followed by the 10 am Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 31530 Beechwood, Garden City.
