Aunt Rita was Rita to the four of us kids, from the time we were born, until the day she moved. Rita was the matriarch of our family after Grandma and Marie found their place with our Savior. She rarely raised her voice, but one always listened when she spoke. The attribute that attracted and was most effectual, was her faith in Almighty God. All her life she was faithful, which served her well when her memories became cloudy. Up until the very end, she joined in heartily for any old hymn, remembering second and third verses to many. And what a spectacularly lovely voice to sing those praises! Her humbleness, meekness, and gentleness were the gifts she offered to The Most High God, every day, in love, grace, and mercy to all.
After graduating from Wayne State University in Detroit, Rita sang in the choir at Messiah Lutheran, enjoyed travelling abroad, and began an illustrious career in advertising at J.L Hudson's in downtown Detroit. As president of the Women's Advertising Club of Detroit, she was honored to meet presidential candidate, Hubert Humphrey, in Washington D.C. Rita loved her Lord, her family, Sanders hot fudge sundaes, Hudson's, traveling to California and abroad, and singing old songs and hymns.
