Rita (Wooden)Bartholomew, age 85, formerly of Dearborn passed away peacefully on March 7 in St Clair Shores.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick, and son in law, Stephen Doughty.Rita is survived by her children Carol (Bob) Pyka, Jill (David Schumacher) Doughty, Chris (Paul) Lisowski, Mary (Eric) Lagerstrom; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brother Jack (Patricia) Wooden and many special nieces and nephews.Rita grew up in Kalamazoo and took the trolley up Prospect Hillto attend school at Western State Normal School, now the East Campus of Western Michigan University.After graduation she attended Michigan State College where she met and married fellow Spartan, Dick.After Dick graduated, they moved to Dearborn where they raised their family of four girls and became involved with their church and community.Rita worked for the Wayne Westland Community Schools as an administrative assistant for over 20 years.She was an accomplished seamstress and loved playing tennis and golf until her health declined and prevented her from continuing these activities.Rita was a devoted wife, mother, Grandma, Aunt, and friend and her presence among us will be greatly missed.There will be a Memorial service at Cherry Hill United Presbyterian Church in Dearborn on Saturday, April 20 at 11 am.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
