Obituary

Age 86

Rita was a healthy and vibrant lady. Sadly, she contracted COVID-19 and after putting up a good fight went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, George. She is survived by her children; Michael (Ann) Graziotti, Kathleen Ward, Karen (Tony) Avey, and Mark Graziotti. Her cherished grandchildren; Kelly (Daniel) Wight, Dominic (Sarah Rivero) Graziotti, Angela (TJ) Goddu, Emily Avey, Kimberly Avey, and Sophia Graziotti. Her darling great-grandchildren; Kelsey Ward, Jordyn Goddu, Tess Goddu, and Dominick Goddu. She is also survived by her brother Jim (Jean) Gravedoni, her dear friend Frank Eshelman, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rita was born in Ishpeming, Michigan and moved to Detroit when she was 14, where her parents opened a soda shop. That is how she met her husband, George, who was a frequent customer. They moved to Garden City where they raised their family and were active in the community and St. Dunstan Catholic Church. Rita worked at Hudson's for 36 years in the Bridal Registry/China department. It was there that she developed her love of all things crystal. In her retirement, Rita was an active member in her Red Hat group and the G.C. Hospital Guild. She was a true people person and could befriend anyone in a matter of minutes. Her favorite moments were those that included being with her family, drinking coffee, playing cards, or reading a book, as she was an avid reader. Rita will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is forever in our hearts.
