Rita Marie Zdeb, born Rita Marie Limback, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 1, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on October 8, 1937, in Laurium, Michigan, Rita grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula before her family moved to the Lower Peninsula, where she lived for the remainder of her life. In 1959, she married Jerome Zdeb, the love of her life. Together, they established a home in Dearborn Heights, which she cherished throughout her years. Their marriage lasted 66 years, until Jerome’s passing in 2025.
Rita dedicated herself fully to her family. She was a steadfast presence at the graduations, celebrations, and milestones of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she maintained her closeness with family through long, familiar phone conversations, serving as both a keeper of family memories and a steady link between those she loved.
Rita found joy in life’s simple pleasures: the Detroit Tigers, her beloved blueberry muffins, and a good time at the casino. She also had a remarkable talent for finding the perfect greeting card for even the most specific of occasions. Above all, Rita found her greatest happiness in the company of family.
She is survived by her three children: Anthony, Thomas (Stacey), and Jennifer (Mark). She is also survived by five grandchildren: Christopher, Stephanie (Maxim), Madison, Jacob, and Maya; and three great-grandchildren: Elaina, Luca, and Sawyer.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Zdeb; her parents, Phillip and Catherine Limback; and her sister, Barbara.
Visitation, Friday 4-8pm with an Evening Rosary at the John N. Santeiu & Son, Inc (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill). In State, Saturday 10:30am until the 11am Funeral Service at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 31530 Beechwood (at Merriman Road, 2 blocks north of Ford Road).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be directed to CARES, 27835 Shiawassee St, Farmington Hills, MI 48336.
