Robert J. 'Farmer' Dempsey, Age 89 passed away in his home in Garden City, Michigan. Beloved husband of Agnes Carole (nee: Croyle) for 65 years. Dear father of Michael, Robert Jr. (Erin), David (Michele), Daniel, Carole Ann (Thomas D.) Whited, and the late Brian. Father-in-law of Dana. Grandfather of 14, Great grandfather of 5.

Bob was born in Johnstown, PA, October 23, 1934 to Delphin J. and Anna Marie (nee: Scheffauer) Dempsey. Prior to leaving Johnstown, Bob lived in Old Conemaugh Borough, 9th Ward where he attended St. John Gualbert grade school and after graduating from Johnstown Catholic High School in 1952, he was employed for a short time at Brooklyn Hospital Equipment Co.; Goldstein/Levine's and the PA Hwy Maintenance Dept.

He was a US Army veteran, having served in Germany with the 3rd Med. Tk. Btn 35th Armor, 7th Army. He retired as Gen. Supervisor with over 34 years of dedicated service with the Fleetwood and Cadillac Plants Gen Motors Corp. in manufacturing and Quality Assurance Dept.

Bob was a dedicated family man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked telling stories about the "good ol days" of growing up in Old Conemaugh Borough with his buddies from Railroad & Hudson sts. His favorite saying was – "You can take the boy out of Johnstown but you can't take Johnstown out of the boy".

Visitation Thursday 2 pm – 8 pm with a 7 pm Rosary at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, Garden City. In state Friday 10:30 am until the 11 am Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Garden City. Burial to follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Capuchin Soup Kitchen or May Knoll Sisters.
