Dr. Gutierrez (known to most as Dr. Bob) was born May 10, 1932, in Detroit, son of Esperanza (Hope) and Moses Gutierrez. After graduating from Dearborn High School, he attended Henry Ford Junior College. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for three years. Upon discharge, Dr. Bob went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University.

He was accepted into Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1962. He started his own private practice in Garden City, where he cared for his patients for over 40 years. He became more than just their doctor; he was their friend. During that time, he was also the team physician for many local high school football teams, including Dearborn High School, Crestwood High School, Garden City East High School, and Divine Child High School. He retired in 2001 at the age of 69.

During his life, Dr. Bob was an avid golfer and softball player. He was also an active member of Dearborn Elks Lodge #1945. Despite living such an active life, he was happiest when spending time with his family and friends, especially at the cottage on ole' Island 27 on Lake Temagami in Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Bob lived a full life, and while he will be missed by many, he will always be remembered for his jokes, charismatic smile, positive attitude, and compassion.

The family is planning a luncheon, early summer of 2022 to celebrate Dr. Bob. Details to follow.

Visitation Tuesday 2-8pm with the Funeral Service Wednesday 11:30am at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill).
