Obituary

Robert Bruce McKay, Age 84, Passed away at home the evening of February 7, 2018. Robert was born and raised in Detroit in 1933. In 1956 he joined the Armed Services and was stationed at California's Fort Ord, where he played saxophone in the Army's marching band. After being Honorably Discharged, he returned to Dearborn, Michigan to raise a family and continue his employment as the office manager for Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Co. Upon his retirement in 1996, he settled into life in Wyandotte. He took pleasure watching big ships navigate the river from the comfort of his patio and could frequently be found laughing among friends at his favorite neighborhood watering holes. "Bobbie" as he was known to those closest to him, enjoyed watching all sports but his true passion was baseball. He loved his Detroit Tigers and always wore his team jersey while cheering them on with family and friends. A music enthusiast who could play most instruments, he most enjoyed the big band and swing jazz era of his young adulthood. He was supportive of many charities and gave generously whenever possible. Robert is survived by his children- Rick, Leslie, David, Angela, and Robert. His grandchildren- Whitney, Katlyn, Kyle, Brandy, Jeff, Devin, and Madison and his great grandchildren- Ellie, Emma, Keston, and Chet. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanna, and his second wife Marty. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony among family members.
