Robert Thaddeus McNeil. Age 76. It is with great sadness that the family of Robert "Bob" McNeil, announce his passing on August 24, 2012 after a prolonged illness. Former resident of Dearborn, Robert McNeil has been living his last days surrounded by family and friends at Redford Village. Mr. McNeil was born June 16, 1936 in Detroit, MI to Bernie and Anne (nee: MacDonald). He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara (nee: Fraser); sons Thomas (Gwen), Stephen (Koreen) and Jim (Trese). He was a proud grandpa to 7 grandchildren: Roderick, Anne, Cameron, Calum, Aidan, Christie-Marie and Mae. He leaves behind many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and close friends. Mr. McNeil was an accomplished violinist with a strong love and compassion for Cape Breton music. He was quick with his wit, enjoyed the occasional card game and loved spending time with his family. He will be eternally missed. Visitation at Hackett-Metcalf Funeral Home, 2640 Monroe Blvd. (near W. Outer Drive), Dearborn Monday from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Instate 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martha Catholic Church, 18200 Oakwood Blvd, Dearborn, MI 48124 until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks thatmemorial gifts be offered to the Alzheimer's Association of Michigan.www.alz.org/gmc/
