Obituary

Robert Dwayne Shively was born April 26, 1953, in Detroit, MI. He was the eldest of two sons born to the late Robert Alexander Shively and the late Josephine Beatrice (Pickett) Shively.

Robert (lovingly known as Dwayne to his family, or Bob with his friends) graduated from Taylor Center High School in 1971 and attended college at Central Michigan University.  He continued his matriculation at Eastern Michigan University and, according to Dwayne, his proudest moment was graduating from EMU in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree. But Dwayne also was proud of being his 5th grade Spelling Bee Champion.  While completing additional classes at EMU, Dwayne was employed at General Motors, and then began his career as a Medical Technologist at Wayne County General Hospital. Later, in 1991 Dwayne went to work for Henry Ford Hospital (HFHS) in Detroit, where his co-workers became his life-long friends. He retired from HFHS after 23 years of dedicated service in 2014.

Dwayne was a member of the American Society for Clinical Technologists.  He enjoyed traveling with his friends, especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii, playing Bid Whist and Euchre, listening to music (Roberta Flack was a favorite) and watching action/fantasy movies. Dwayne could watch Indiana Jones and Marvel movies non-stop, but his absolute favorite past-time was barbeques with his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted brother Jerahn Shively (Arreather Forbers), beloved cousin Phoebe (the late William) Scott, and devoted friend John Zajechowski. He will also be missed by many other loving cousins and devoted friends.
