Bob, age 89, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband of Suzanne (nee: Martin). Dear father of Sheri (Jimmy Dukes) Parsons, Keith (Dawn) Smith, and Stacey Dempsey. Loving grandfather of Brent (Katie) Parsons, Ryan (Katie) Smith, Brandon (Kristen Gantz) Smith, Travis (Hannah Benschoter) Smith, Aaron Dempsey, Austin (Kyla Heyd) Dempsey, Preston Dempsey, Ellie Dempsey and the late Kyle Parsons. Great grandfather of 7. Predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters.  Son of the late Eugene and May Rose Smith.

Bob was a great man with a lot of love in his heart. He was always there for his family, friends, and neighbors, and never missed an event for his grand and great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He retired after 29 years with General Motors as a Machine Repairman. As an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, he was actively involved with, cleaning the church and decorating at Christmas (known as the Angels) the fish fries, set up and take down for the festivals, and whatever else they needed him for. Bob did the trimming of the shrubs, not only for the church, but also his daughter Sheri's, and whatever else anyone ever needed him to do. He was a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings, U of M football, and the Detroit Lions. However, he was an even bigger fan for his grandchildren's sports and activities.

Per Bobs request, he was donated to University of Michigan Medical School.

Funeral Mass Saturday, March 23rd, 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Garden City. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 8th, 1 pm - 5 pm at Hellenic Cultural Center, 36375 Joy Rd., Westland.
