It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Showalter, age 91, a remarkable individual who dedicated his life to public service, community involvement, and personal achievements. Ronald retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after proudly serving 22 years in the United States Air Force. His commitment to education was exemplified by earning a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and History from Kansas State University and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.

Ronald's professional career was marked by significant contributions in both hospital and city administration. He held the positions of Garden City Clerk/Treasurer and Mayor, and he served on the City Council of Garden City, where his leadership and vision left a lasting impact on the community.

Ronald was the beloved husband of the late Barbara for 56 years. He was a loving father to Daniel (Ileana) and Paula Donnelly, and a cherished grandfather to Rebecca, Raquel, Rosa, Emily, and Julia. He was an active member of the Lion's Club and his church, reflecting his dedication to community service and faith.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 pm to 6 pm with Military Honors at 5 pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of Garden City.

Ronald Showalter's legacy is one of dedication, service, and love for his family and community. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 7th, 1pm at United Methodist Church Garden City. Light refreshments will follow.
