Samuel E. Pardy, 93, passed away on March 22, 2020 at Beaumont Commons in Dearborn, Michigan.Predeceased by his beloved wife Helen of 68 years, both were born and raised in Detroit, where they also raised their children in the Historic Woodbridge neighborhood, before moving to Beaumont Commons five years ago.Besides being a devoted husband, he was a beloved father and is survived by his six children and their spouses, Michael (Sara), Stephen (Sara), Kathleen, David (Heather), Daniel (Gerald), and Dennis (Monica); six grandchildren, Matthew (Kate), Alex (Lauren), Nicholas (Julie), Luke, Madeleine, and Samuel; as well as four great grandchildren, Jolene, Coraline, Lillian, and Fiona, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and longtime friends.He is also predeceased by his two sisters and two brothers.Sam will be greatly missed by all but remembered for the love he had for Helen, and his family and friends.Sam served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII, and when back in Detroit he first worked there as a streetcar driver.He spent his career working for the City of Detroit in the Department of Public Works, and after retiring, worked for many years in food service with the Detroit Department of Education. During retirement, he spent time in his vegetable garden, and both he and Helen enjoyed Ballroom dancing together.He was also known as the 'mower man' in his Woodbridge neighborhood as he could fix anybody's lawnmower or snow blower. We will remember his sly humor and many cherished memories including summer holidays at Ford Field that were shared with the families of their closest childhood friends.
