of Fremont, OH and formerly of Garden City, MI passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 6, 2018, 14 days shy of her 90
th
birthday.
She was born on October 20, 1928 in Detroit and was a proud 1946 graduate of Cass Technical High School. Shirley was a dedicated mother to her seven children and five step children and served in a 30+ year career as a dental assistant and office manager for Joseph F. Pinto, DDS, and James. R. Stewart, DDS. A parishioner of the former St. Raphael, now St. Thomas the Apostle parish, Shirley served in many roles including lector, eucharistic minister, wedding coordinator and in bereavement ministry. She cared for her late husband, Robert and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, who fondly was known as "Gigi." Also known as Sgt. Shirl, she lived a life with passion, vigorously debated her perspective, and was not afraid to speak her truth.
Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Robert G. Wells & Robert C. Webster. Loving mother of Alice (Derryl) Barringer, Wm. Robb (Patricia) Webster, Daniel (V. Faye) Webster, Lawrence (Kim) Webster, Patricia (Karen Gatrell) Webster, Thomas (Paige) Webster, Dr. Jerome Webster, Susan (Dennis) Whipstock, Roberta Leggett, Nancy Wells, Dawn (Mark) Hyder, and Raymond Wells. Grandmother of Joseph (Monica) Fugedi, Thomas (Katie) Fugedi, Jarrett Barringer, Matthew (Christina) Barringer, Andrew Barringer, Jason (Micheall) Webster, Jessica (David) Owczarek, Allison Webster, Cameron (Jenny) Webster, Collin (Elizabeth) Webster, Caitlin Webster, Austin Webster, William Webster, Dennis Whipstock, Jr., Emily (Christopher) Froney, Donald (Ashley) Hyder, and the late Michael Whipstock. Great grandmother of 9. Sister to Ruth Ankofski, Margaret (the late Carl William) Rich, Robert Rich, Sarah Kubiak, Bruce "Buck" Rich, and Kirk (Mary) Rich.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2-8pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd., Garden City, MI (Between Ford Rd. and Cherry Hill), with a 7 pm Scripture Service. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 31530 Beechwood (at Merriman Road, 2 blocks north of Ford Rd.), Garden City, MI, where she will lie in state after 9:30 am. Private burial will occur at St. Hedwig Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to the Church.
