Age 78

Sofia passed away peacefully on December 30, 2018. Cherished wife of Thomas for 60 years. Beloved mother of Thomas Jr. (Linda) Weiland, CherylAnn (Mike) Patterson, Kathleen (Brian) Bartlett, Linda (Gary DeGarmo) Weiland, Karan (Scott) Hancock and Loriann (Ken) Untch.

Beloved grandmother of Brian (Carolina) Bentley, Sarah Bentley, Brandi (Jakub) Miculka, Brian (Adrienne) Tish, Tanya (Adam Stotts) Tish, Alexander (Kaitlin Higgins) Bartlett, Rebecca Bartlett, Alexandria and Kathryn Untch.  Loving great-grandmother of Catalina and Desmond Tish, and Ophelia Miculka.

Born in Detroit to Gilberto and Luz Pompa, she was number 10 of 11 children. She met Tom at age 16 and knew that was the man she would marry.  She preferred to be called "Tony" by her friends, neighbors and work colleagues.  Tony and Tom raised their family in Lincoln Park and Livonia.  She was a talented baker and cake decorator, expert sewer, and a master at money.  She loved books and reading, the color yellow, and the outdoors. As members of the Western Wayne County Conservation Club, Tony enjoyed participation in the many family activities. She retired from Ford Motor Credit.

The family requests that guests to the visitation and funeral wear bright colors in honor of the deceased.  Visitation will be Friday January  4th from 2 pm to 8 pm.  There will be a brief prayer service at 7 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held Monday January 7th at 1:00 pm at St. Gerald Catholic Church.
