IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stella Rose
Konopka
July 4, 1921 – February 5, 2018
Age 96
Beloved wife of Theodore Felix, who preceded her in death in 2009 after 63 years of marriage. Dear mother of Margaret D. (Douglas) Oster Bradley and Suzanne Marie Rose. Loving grandmother of Dorothy (Michael) Compton, Matthew Bradley, Benjamin (Agnieszka) Bradley and the late Christine Oster. Great grandmother of Joseph, Veronica, Jack, Vivienne Compton and Maria, John Paul and Andy Bradley. Sister of the late Walter, Stephanie and Henry. She was also the grand matriarch of a large extended family, beloved by all.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Michael (Firlit) and Karolina (Makowiec), who immigrated from Poland. An all-around city girl, she went to work after high school, from the War Dept to Ford Motor Co., and saved money to buy a house for her family. After she married Theodore, it was also farm life for 10 years. She was an amazing cook, canner, baker, gardener (and chicken "prepper"). She had many talents in knitting, crocheting - and more - and gave everything away. She loved all of our Polish traditions and playing pinochle but especially Skip-Bo, which she never turned down. Her greatest loves were God and family. She was an unfailing hostess and feast-maker, all-giving and all-forgiving, generous beyond words. Before her health failed, she would spend 3-4 hours a day, praying, especially the Rosary. Grace-filled Stella lived out the love of God and the Blessed Mother.
Visitation Sunday 1-9 pm with a 6:30 Rosary at the John N. Santeiu and Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd. Garden City, Michigan (between Ford and Cherry Hill).
