It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry L. McGinty on January 22nd, 2025, at the age of 88. Terry was born on August 30,1936 in Highland Park, Michigan, to Gail (nee Tuley) and Evan McGinty.
Terry met the love of his life and beloved wife of 68 years, Patricia McGinty, while in high school. Terry was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and his unwavering love and support for his family and friends. He generously offered his time to others, frequently assisting neighbors with retrieving mail, watering gardens, and clearing snow. Terry was an avid sailor, pipe aficionado, and painter. He was an excellent watercolorist and previously studied with the renowned Nita Engle. Terry studied Art at the famed Meinzinger Art School in Detroit in the 1950's and went on to work for Downe's Graphics and other drafting studios in Detroit before joining the Graphics Arts Department at Ford Motor Company World Headquarters in Dearborn, MI. Terry retired from Ford Motor Company as a Manager of Technical Illustration in April of 1996 after 30 years of dedicated service to the company.
Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia McGinty (nee Davis); his mother and father, Gail Rosemond and Evan Tyrus McGinty; his sister, Patricia Poston (nee McGinty); his in-laws, Hoke and Julia Davis; his brothers-in-law, Ray Poston and Thomas Davis; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Davis.
He is survived by his son, Sean (Gayle) McGinty, his daughter Erin (Robert) Dempsey, sister-in-law, Sandy Davis; grandchildren, Matthew, Shannon, Julia, and Ryan; and great grandchildren, Maeve, Marie, Nolan, and Claire.
Visitation is Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 11:00 am - 12:45 pm, followed by a Service at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City (Between Ford Road and Cherry Hill). Burial will take place following at Parkview Memorial Gardens in Livonia, MI.
