Obituary

Theresa A. Lundy, 85, died in Canton in the early morning of July 5, 2023 after a brief illness. She is survived by her dear husband Earl, and beloved niece Kelly Olszewski (John Hertel) of Herndon, Virginia, nephew Michael Olszewski of Detroit, grandnephews Ryan and Matthew Hertel and many close friends.

Born the only child of Charles and Anna Olshefski in Hanover Green, PA, Theresa came to Detroit as a young child with her parents during World War II. When she was a young adult, her parents became the custodians of her cousins Francis and Richard Olszewski following the death of their parents and she instantly became an older sister, a role she took very seriously. Shortly after graduating from Holy Redeemer High School (Detroit), she and Earl married and eventually settled in Dearborn. There she became actively involved in her community as a long-time member of the Dearborn Historical Society and the Dearborn Community Arts Council as well as a former president of the latter. During that time Theresa and husband Earl were the recipients of the Mayor's Arts Award. She was also engaged in the community through her work at Dearborn Press & Guide and Henry Ford Community College. In her later years, she and Earl moved to Canton and remained engaged in community arts functions. Throughout her life she enjoyed entertaining and travel, including playing host to many holiday gatherings and making numerous trips to Stratford, Ontario for the Shakespeare Festival and the Washington, DC area to visit her niece's family.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, October 07, 2023 at 2pm until the 4pm Memorial Service at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 N. Inkster Road, Garden City (Between Ford Road and Cherry Hill). She will be interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
