Vaskin "Vas" Badalow of Dearborn Heights MI. passed in peace Monday, May 19th 2014 at the age of 81. Vazken Badalow was born on September 1, 1932 and is the son of Zalibeg and Sophia, former husband of Jean. He is survived by his two children Janet S. Badalow (John Kellett), Vaskin A. Badalow (Nicole), and was a proud grandfather of Colin and Mason.

Vas worked as a teacher at Dearborn High and Edsel Ford. He was the Court Administrator and Magistrate for the 20th District Court until his retirement in 1992. He coached both collegiate and high school football for almost 40 years. His love and passion for coaching was well known. Vas coached at the Universities of Wake Forest, Florida International, and Eastern Michigan. He coached football for several High School teams in the metro Detroit area including: Divine Child, Edsel Ford, Dearborn High, Crestwood, Thurston, Royal Oak Kimball, West Bloomfield, Wayne Memorial, and Hamtramck High School among others.

Vaskin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and was honorably discharged. He was a longstanding member of the Detroit Judo Club. In the 1980's, he was inducted into the Catholic Coaches Association Catholic League Hall of Fame. In 1989, he was inducted into the Hamtramck High School Sports Hall of Fame for Coaching. In 2002, he was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation Wednesday 5-8pm and Thursday 1-8pm with Dan Gark Prayers at 7pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 N. Inkster Rd., Garden City (Between Ford Rd. & Cherry Hill). In State Friday 10 am with an 11 am service at St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 19300 Ford Rd, Dearborn. (Between Altar Rd and Artesian St.)
