Obituary

Vincenta (Vincie) Marie Jones, a beloved wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, and friend passed away from appendiceal cancer (metastasized) on April 25th, 2025, at the age of 60 in her home in Howell, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Detroit, Michigan on November 20th, 1964, Vincie was the fourth of six girls (Raquel, Renee, Tina, Toni, Nicole) born to the late Santa and Shirley Caruso. Though introverted in many ways, she always had the heart of a cheerleader and developed a strong will and vocal ability (which she effectively used to raise five boys later in life). Her infectious smile and presence could lift even the heaviest of hearts and she always had a kind word, wise advice, or just a loving hug when it was needed most. She believed wholeheartedly in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and came to saving faith in her teenage years. She always spoke life and positive affirmations over her entire family and her heart's desire is that all would know her Lord as she does.

Though she would tell you she was blessed beyond measure, her life was not without trials and difficulties. (John 16:33) Her father Santa Caruso passed away at the age of forty-six from a heart attack leaving Vincie, her five sisters, and mom (Shirley) void of the protections that a man provides. In her early 20's, she married her first husband, Mark Ryan. They had four boys (Nathan, Jonathan, Dominic, Mark) together, and one boy (Stephen) that she accepted as her own from Mark's previous marriage. Mark would later be diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and she would be tasked with being his full-time caretaker while raising five young boys. Five long years after diagnosis, in April of 2000, Mark would pass away. Vincie knew she would remarry someday, but it had to be just the right type of man, and one that her boys also approved of.

Vincie met Darrell Jones in December of 2016 at the gym where she led classes. They were instantly drawn to each other and married in November of 2017. They met at a time when they needed each other the most, and they each viewed the other as God's greatest gift to them (apart from His gift of salvation). Winning over her sons was no small feat, but Darrell handled it swimmingly and the joy her sons saw in her eyes when she was with him made it easy.

Vincie's proudest title was Mimi (Grandma). She was Mimi to 9 grandbabies (Eliana, Kennedy, Evelyn, Kade, Kara, Junie, Violet, Owen, and Georgia Sue) whom she lovingly called "her heartbeats". There was nothing she wouldn't do for them, and nothing brought her more joy than seeing them play, pray, and grow.

Vincie is preceded in death by her parents Santa (Shirley) Caruso, Mark Ryan (former husband), Stephen Ryan (step-son).

Survived by husband Darrell Jones, sons: Nathan (Mandy) Ryan, Jonathan (Jenn), Dominic (Jenna), Mark (Molly), step-daughters: Jennifer (Ian) Davidson, Jacqueline (Eissac) Llamas.
