On Wednesday, July 18th Violet Powers, cherished mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother passed away in her 90 ^th year, after a long-fulfilled life, with family at her side.  Beloved wife of the late Harold (Bob).  Treasured mother of Carol (Mark) Plichta, Dianne (the late Ron) Ratusznik, John, Paul, Jill (Rick) Dela Cruz, Linda (Bill) Berry and William (Kristin) who will deeply miss her presence and companionship.  A Detroit native, Violet left home to attend and graduate from Central Michigan College of Education returning to complete her registered nursing (RN) program at Detroit's Henry Ford School of Nursing.  Violet utilized those skills in the years she raised her family and provided them as a volunteer for many years to the Garden City school district and various senior home centers where she also enjoyed entertaining patients with her singing and playing of the piano.  Violet studied and absorbed the words of our Lord and served him well throughout her life "forever faithful in Christ".  A celebration of Violets life will be held on Thursday, July 26 ^th , 2018 at 11:30 a.m., (viewing beginning at 10 a.m.) at the John Santeiu & Sons funeral home in Garden City immediately followed by procession, via historic Edward Hines Drive (requested by Vi), to burial grounds at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.  A luncheon will be served at 2 p.m. all are welcomed -  Deluca's Restaurant.
