Virginia “Ginny” Hay, age 83, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love, kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit touched the lives of many.

Ginny was the beloved wife of the late Donald, with whom she shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. A proud graduate of Michigan State University, Ginny earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, and it was during her time at Michigan State that she met her beloved husband, Don. Their meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful love story and a lifetime together filled with love, family, travel, and wonderful memories.

In her professional life, Ginny worked at Hudson’s Department Store and later devoted herself to serving and connecting with others in meaningful ways. She ran an Alzheimer’s support group, offering compassion and encouragement to those facing difficult challenges. She also spent many happy years running senior citizen activity programs for the City of Dearborn, bringing joy, friendship, and connection to countless people whose lives she touched.

Ginny was a longtime parish member of Divine Child and an active and devoted parent while her children attended Divine Child School. She was a pioneer of the Divine Child Arts and Crafts Show, helping to create an event that brought people together and became a cherished part of the community.

She had a lifelong love of books and reading and found great pleasure in the many stories and worlds she discovered through them. She also loved traveling and especially enjoyed the adventures and memories she shared with her beloved husband, Don.

Ginny was the loving mother of Nancy (Paul Coleman), Laura (Scott) Anderson, and Michael (Sarah Hartman). She was a cherished grandmother to Jack, Evan, Hugo, Nidia, and Harry, all of whom brought her tremendous joy.

Dear sister of Margaret (John) Tiesler and a caring sister-in-law to Maureen (Denny) Scholten and Sue (Thom) Arends. She was also a devoted aunt to Pauly, Jodi, Jamie, Scot, Heather, Jason, and Chris, and a loving great-aunt to many.

Ginny was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her many family members and friends. Her kindness, generosity, love of family, and remarkable ability to bring people together will remain part of the lasting legacy she leaves behind. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Visitation will be at Divine Child Church, 1055 Silvery Lane, Dearborn on Friday, September 4, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Mass will follow at Divine Child Church at 12:30 PM the same day.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Angela Hospice in Livonia.
