Age 86

Walter died peacefully on February 17. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Anne Merrell Blount, beloved daughter, Tammy Hudson, and parents, Luman Blount and Phoebe Cunningham Blount. His surviving children are Brian Blount (Pam), Jody Boston (David) and son-in-law, Jim Hudson and grandchildren, Eric, Alex, Kelly, Lisa (Oliver), David, Ashli (James), Samantha (Natalino) and Adrianna and great grandchildren, Kairi, Felix and Lucas.

Walter was born and raised in Durand, Michigan where he learned to play guitar, became a star athlete in track, football and basketball and graduate as the salutatorian of Durand High School in 1951.

He served in the United States Army, serving in Korea before returning home to marry Anne. Together, they moved from living their first years in Owosso to where they would raise their three children in Garden City, which was a closer commute to his job at Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Michigan. Walter worked the remainder of his career as an Engineer at that location.

His family fondly remembers his vegetable gardening sharing, cooking a great family breakfast and his encyclopedic mind; pulling up facts from the files in his mind, a gift derived from being an avid reader and learner. He enjoyed history most especially. Walter loved his family and showed his devotion in many, loving ways.
