Age 91

Beloved husband of the late Stephanie. Devoted Partner of Gwen Bylo. Dear father of Donna (Steve) Wolfe and Lydia (David) Hultgren. Grandfather of Stefanie (Zachary) Bohart. Great grandfather of Sofie Bohart. Brother of the late Michael. Brother-in-law of Dolores Lypka. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Walter was of Ukrainian descent, born to Stefan and Paulina Lypka in Dudynce, Poland. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 16 where he settled in Detroit, Michigan. There he began his working life as a tailor apprentice, and eventually trained to become a barber. He owned his own business for over 50 years.

Walter was musically inclined. Although he did not read music, he became a proficient musician. He had a band in his younger years and played the drums and accordion. He greatly enjoyed dancing and engaged in this activity well into his 80's. He was also an avid golfer.

As an active member of two Ukrainian Catholic parishes, Walter helped to organize many church activities.
