IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter M.
Wilkinson
October 4, 1943 – April 21, 2024
Walter M. Wilkinson (80), passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 4, 1943, to Walter and Elizabeth Wilkinson.
He leaves behind his wife Sally, three children, Daniel (Renee), Deborah (Robert) Gauthier, and Michael (Mary), 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Walter is the dear brother of Thomas, Ruth Radatz, the late Mary Voydanoff, and Sandra Holthus.
After high school Walter began his life-long journey of serving his country and community. He joined the Navy and served for 6 years during the Cold War Era. While stationed at Great Lakes Naval Academy, Walter met the love of his life, Sally. They had 58 wonderful years together.
Walter was a Firefighter and EMT for the city of Dearborn Heights for 25 years. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a skilled mechanic, plumber, electrician, and painter. He served as a handyman to many senior citizens and often completed the work at no cost. He looked after his clients and would even assist with driving them to doctor visits.
He loved his family deeply and enjoyed taking them on annual camping trips. He had a knack for making his grandchildren laugh with his silly songs and quotes from the Three Stooges.
Rest in Peace our humble hero.
