Obituary

Bill Belcher was raised in the Democratic City of Garden City in a Democratic household.  His father thought FDR saved the world.

It was his tour of duty in the Air Force when Kennedy ran against Nixon that convinced him that he was a Republican.

Returning from his tour, Bill went into the real estate and mortgage business for the next 40 years and at one time owned and operated two real estate offices.

His community involvement included serving on a number of boards and commissions including five years chairing the Tax Board of Review and chairing a multi-million dollar school bond issue, and was elected to three terms on the Garden City Council. It was this path working with Planning Commissions, Zoning Boards and Elected Officials that he learned the difference between Conservative and Liberal Values and became a lifelong Conservative Republican.

As a past President of the Garden City Jaycees, the Jaycees became a focal point for many years working with some great conservatives like Dick Headlee and working on many local and state elections such as working door to door for Patrick Duggan running for Municipal Judge (Mayor Mike Duggan's father).

Bill's campaign thirst includes Campaign Manager for Bill Keith for State Representative , Volunteer Manager for "Rocky Works For Us" Congressional Campaign and Campaign Manager for Rocky Raczkowski for State Senate.

Republican involvement includes serving as President of FAR (Farmington Area Republicans) and is a long time committee member of OCRP where he is currently on the By-Laws Committee and is former Co-chair of the Issues Committee. He has served as past co-chair of the old 9 th District and Community Caucus Chair at County Conventions.

Bill has three successful sons and six grandchildren.
