William Matthew Hamill, age 48, of Garden City, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Garden City Hospital.

Born on September 7, 1974 in Garden City, he was the son of William and Katherine (Branoff) Hamill.

He was employed with DTE as an Senior Lab Technician.

William loved watching his kids grow up, and going to sporting events with them. He loved football, but hated the Lions. He was a big Star Wars fan. When he started a project, he was passionate about it. Though stubborn, he was very generous and enjoyed making people laugh. He loved to be a jokester, catching people off guard and making random comments to those around him, even strangers, just to see their reaction.

William was preceded in death by his father, William Hamill.

He is survived by his mother, Katherine, children: Bailey Hamill, Ryanne Hamill, Luke Hamill, siblings: Andy (Karen) Hamill, Sandy Hamill, Chuck (Marianne) Hamill, former spouse and mother of his children, Jennifer Hamill.

Visitation will be held at John N. Santeiu and Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd., Garden City on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A Time of Sharing begin at 4:00 pm. Cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
