Obituary

Bill died on June 24, 2023, in Livonia MI at Angela Hospice

Beloved husband of Virginia 69 years. Dear brother of Ken McBride of Northville MI, and his 3 daughters Debra (Ed) McNamara, Amy (John) Wendell, and Beth (Paul) Newman, 7 grandchildren, Thomas (Amanda) McNamara, Emily (Stefan) Gagnon, Andrew (Jaclyn) Newman, Maureen (Steven) Roessel, Jaclyn (David) Chang, Madison Wendell, and Evan Wendell, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was born April 23, 1927, in Detroit to John and Lucy McBride, and married Virginia Howell, September 4, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan. William then resided in Garden City from 1962-2017 and for the remainder of his life, he lived at The Villages of Westland.

Bill was a Veteran and served in the Navy in WWII and in the Army in the Korean War

After graduating from Detroit College of Business (now Davenport University), he worked at Campbell Advertising and Detroit College of Business (DCB), where he was heavily involved in the Theta Beta fraternity at DCB. He retired when he was 60.

Bill had an uncanny ability to make friends in all aspects of his life and maintain those friendships for decades.  He was also very generous and would literally give you his shirt off his back. He loved classical music, old movies, trains and puzzles.  He was a jokester and liked to make people laugh.  As we miss his presence, we are comforted knowing he mattered to so many, and it isn't "goodbye" to Bill it is "see you later".

Memorial service will be held this summer at a later date
