IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Donald
Mcmaster
July 28, 1938 – December 31, 2021
William (Bill) McMaster died peacefully at home on December 31, 2021 at the age of 83 after a year-long, courageous battle with cancer with his wife of 56 years, Diane (Schobloher), at his side. He was the proud father of Peggy James (Chris), Sandy Kinane (Kevin) and Kevin McMaster (Jill) and adoring grandfather of Ryan, Brandon, Connor and Nicole James; Meghan (dec), Collin, Sean and Logan Kinane; Riley, Declan, Molly and Kellan McMaster.
Bill was born on July 28, 1938 to Thomas and Abbie (Moody) McMaster, growing up on the west side of Detroit with his siblings Thomas (Tim) (dec), Linda (dec), Pam and Sandy.
Brother-in-law of Charles (deceased) and Loraine Schobloher, he was known to his many nieces and nephews as Good Guy Uncle Bill.
With an abundance of Irish charm, Bill cherished friendships, keeping in touch with his MSU Lambda Chi fraternity brothers, extended family, business relationships and neighborhood friends. He had a unique ability to connect with people, providing unconditional love and support when needed (although admittedly on his unique McMaster time schedule).
Bill began his writing career while working on the Williamston Enterprise newspaper. He qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon in 1960 and 1963 and was a member of the Air Force Reserves.
With a creative mind, Bill founded McMaster Communications in 1968 to provide professional public relations and marketing services to numerous Michigan-based clients. The firm was honored twice with the Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). After the adoption of the 1978 Headlee Tax Limitation Amendment to the Michigan Constitution, Bill became a passionate advocate of grassroots taxpayers' rights defined in the Amendment through his role as Chairman (Volunteer) of Taxpayers United Michigan Foundation.
