Age 89

Beloved wife of the late John. Dear mother of Susan (Michael) Maher, Marianne, Veronica (Kevin) Flynn, Margaret (Steven) Thibault, John (Heather), Joseph (Emily), Nancy (Dewey) Doyle, Kathleen and Patrick and our brother Sal G.

Grandmother of 19, great-grandmother of three, with two more on the way. Oldest of Frank and Clara, sister of the late Laurence Fitzgerald, Patricia Parrinello, Paul Fitzgerald, and Lynn Fitzgerald, aunt to many nieces and nephews who she loved like her own.

Yvonne was a diehard Detroiter, spending most of her life on the northwest side. She attended St. Mary of Redford for Grade School and High School. From there, she went on to nursing school at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital. She worked as a travel-nurse early in her career and at Mount Carmel & Sinai-Grace Hospitals. Yvonne was able to keep her skills sharp over the years by caring for her large family.

The Lowrys were longtime members of the St. Mary of Redford Parish. Yvonne attended Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Fabian, St. Edith and St. John the 23rd regularly.

The family made annual camping trips to Fayette State Park in the Upper Peninsula with longtime friends the Quinns, Evans, Morris', Mac Donalds, Irvins, and others were where lasting memories were made, and the trips were carried on through subsequent generations.

Yvonne maintained lifelong friendships with her friends from SMR and nursing school. Her welcoming nature, generosity, and Irish humor were the cornerstones of her personality as the matriarch of the Lowry clan.

Visitation Monday 2pm – 8pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home. In state Tuesday 9 am until the 10am Funeral Mass at St. Mary of Redford Parish in Detroit.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Mary of Redford Parish.
